Understanding the SSC CGL 2026 syllabus in depth is the first and most critical step towards cracking this highly competitive examination. The Staff Selection Commission conducts the Combined Graduate Level Examination in two tiers, each testing different competencies and knowledge areas. A thorough understanding of the syllabus helps candidates prioritise topics, allocate study time efficiently, and avoid wasting effort on low-yield areas.

The Tier 1 syllabus covers four major sections: General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Comprehension. This tier serves as a qualifying/screening stage, so candidates need to clear the sectional and overall cut-offs to advance to Tier 2.
