Role & Responsibilities

As a Scientist Grade-II at the National Institute of Biologicals, you will be entrusted with significant responsibilities critical to the institute's mission. Key duties include:

• Conducting advanced research and development in areas related to biological product quality control, standardization, and evaluation.
• Performing rigorous testing and analysis of various biologicals, including vaccines, sera, blood products, and diagnostic reagents, using state-of-the-art techniques.
• Developing and validating new testing methodologies and protocols in accordance with national and international guidelines.
• Contributing to the preparation of technical reports, scientific publications, and regulatory documents.
• Participating in national and international collaborations, workshops, and training programs.
• Assisting in the training and mentorship of junior scientific staff and technical personnel.
• Ensuring compliance with Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and other relevant quality management systems.
• Maintaining laboratory equipment and ensuring proper calibration and functioning.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Scientist Grade-II position at NIB must meet the following comprehensive eligibility requirements:

Educational Qualification & Experience:

• For Medical Personnel:
  • An MBBS degree from a Medical Council of India (MCI) recognized Medical College.
  • A Post Graduate Medical degree (MD/MS/DNB) in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Serology, or Hematology.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience post-PG degree in a related field.
• For Non-Medical Personnel:
  • Option 1 (Master's Degree Holders):
    • A Master's degree in Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Bacteriology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Serology, or Molecular Biology with at least 60% marks.
    • A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience after obtaining the Master's degree.
  • Option 2 (Ph.D. Holders):
    • A Ph.D. degree in any of the mentioned disciplines (Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Bacteriology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Serology, or Molecular Biology).
    • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience after the completion of the Ph.D. degree.
• Desirable Qualification: Candidates with at least 5 publications in Indexed Journals will be given preference.

Age Limit:

• The maximum age limit for applicants is 45 years as on the last date of application. Age relaxation will be applicable as per Government of India rules for reserved categories.

Selection Process

The selection process for the Scientist Grade-II position at NIB is based on direct recruitment and is designed to identify highly qualified and experienced professionals. It typically involves:

Salary & Benefits

Selected candidates for the Scientist Grade-II position will be offered an attractive remuneration package as per the 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations:

• Pay Matrix Level: Level-12
• Pay Scale: RS.78,800 - RS.2,09,200/-
• Additional Benefits:
  • Non-Practicing Allowance (NPA) will be admissible for eligible medical personnel.
  • In addition to the basic pay, employees will be entitled to various allowances as per Central Government rules, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and Medical Facilities.
  • Other benefits such as Gratuity, Provident Fund, and Pension Scheme will also be applicable as per government regulations.
