Role & Responsibilities

The Research Officer (Planning) at the North Eastern Council Secretariat will be instrumental in supporting the core planning functions of the organization. Key responsibilities include:

• Assisting in the meticulous preparation and formulation of comprehensive NEC Plans, ensuring alignment with regional developmental goals and national policies.
• Coordinating effectively with various Sectoral Advisers and departments within the NEC to gather inputs, consolidate data, and ensure integrated planning.
• Engaging in the collection, compilation, rigorous analysis, and insightful interpretation of statistical data relevant to the socio-economic indicators and developmental projects of the North Eastern Region.
• Preparing detailed reports, presentations, and policy briefs based on statistical findings to aid decision-making processes.
• Monitoring and evaluating the progress of ongoing projects and schemes, providing data-driven feedback for course correction and optimization.
• Contributing to research studies and special assignments as directed by senior management, focusing on regional development challenges and opportunities.
• Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of statistical methodologies, economic trends, and planning best practices.

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the Research Officer (Planning) position on a deputation basis must meet the following criteria:

• Educational Qualification: A Master's Degree in one of the following disciplines from a recognized University or equivalent: Statistics, Operations Research, Mathematics, Economics (with Statistics as a subject), or Commerce (with Statistics as a subject).
• Experience: A minimum of three years of relevant experience in the field of collection, compilation, analysis, and interpretation of statistical data. This experience should ideally be in a government department, public sector undertaking, or a recognized research institution.
• Age Limit: The maximum age for applicants on the closing date of receipt of applications should not exceed 56 years.
• Deputation Terms: Applicants must be officers holding analogous posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre/department or with the requisite service in the grade rendered after appointment thereto on a regular basis.

• Additional Benefits: In addition to the basic pay, the incumbent will be entitled to various allowances as admissible to Central Government employees on deputation, which may include Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA) (if not provided government accommodation), Transport Allowance (TA), and other benefits as per government rules. The terms of deputation will be governed by the standard Central Government rules.
