About the Organisation

Role & Responsibilities

The selected Male Nurse will be deployed at India's research bases in Antarctica for a contract period of 6 to 18 months. Key responsibilities include:

• Providing comprehensive medical care, first aid, and emergency medical services to all expedition members in the challenging Antarctic environment.
• Assisting in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of various medical conditions, including trauma and cold-related injuries.
• Maintaining accurate medical records, managing medical inventory, and ensuring the availability of essential medicines and equipment.
• Operating and maintaining life support systems and vehicles as required for medical and logistical operations.
• Conducting routine health check-ups and promoting health and hygiene practices among the expedition team.
• Collaborating with scientific and logistical teams to ensure the overall well-being and safety of personnel at the research base.
• Handling medical evacuations if necessary, in coordination with base leadership.

Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) or Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) in Nursing from a university/institution recognized by the Indian Nursing Council or State Nursing Council.

• Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of post-qualification experience in a hospital setting, preferably with experience in emergency care, ICU, or remote medical services. • Age Limit: Typically, candidates should be below 35-40 years of age. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates will be applicable as per Government of India rules.
