Role & Responsibilities

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates aspiring for the Registrar position at IISc must meet stringent eligibility requirements to ensure the highest caliber of leadership.

• Educational Qualification: A Postgraduate degree with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed.
• Age Limit: The maximum age for direct recruitment is 55 years. For candidates applying on deputation, the age limit is extended to 58 years.
• Experience: Applicants must possess substantial experience in academic or administrative leadership. This includes:
  • At least 15 years of experience as an Assistant Professor in the Academic Grade Pay (AGP) of Rs. 7000/- and above, OR
  • 8 years of service in the AGP of Rs. 8000/- and above, including experience as an Associate Professor, along with proven experience in educational administration, OR
  • Comparable experience in a reputable research establishment and/or other institutions of higher education, OR
  • 15 years of administrative experience, of which 8 years must be as a Deputy Registrar in Grade Pay Rs. 7600/- or an equivalent post.

Salary & Benefits

• Pay Scale: The selected candidate will be placed in Pay Band - 4: Rs. 37,400 - 67,000 with a Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000.
• 7th CPC Pay Level: This corresponds to Pay Level 14 of the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC), with a revised pay scale ranging from Rs. 1,44,200 to Rs. 2,18,200 per month.
