Role & Responsibilities

The Assistant Engineer (Civil) will be responsible for a range of civil engineering functions within the Department of Posts, Civil Wing. Key responsibilities include:

• Planning, designing, and supervising civil construction and maintenance works of departmental buildings and infrastructure.
• Preparation of estimates, drawings, and technical reports for civil engineering projects.
• Ensuring quality control and adherence to engineering standards in all construction activities.
• Coordinating with contractors, vendors, and other government agencies for timely project execution.
• Conducting site inspections and ensuring compliance with safety norms and building regulations.
• Maintaining records of all civil works and submitting progress reports to senior engineers.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates must be holding analogous posts on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department, OR have relevant experience in civil engineering roles as per the prescribed norms.
• The candidate must possess a degree or diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized university or institution (as per the standard deputation norms applicable to the post).
• Candidates should not be under any disciplinary proceedings and must have a clean service record.

Selection Process

The selection for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) on deputation will be carried out as per standard Central Government deputation norms. The process typically includes:

• Scrutiny of applications and service records submitted by the candidates through proper channel.
• Evaluation of the candidate's ACRs/APARs (Annual Confidential Reports/Annual Performance Appraisal Reports) for the last five years.
• Verification of vigilance clearance and integrity certificate from the parent department.
• A Departmental Promotion Committee (DPC) or Selection Committee may be constituted to finalize the selection of suitable candidates.
• Final selection will be based on merit, seniority, and suitability as assessed by the competent authority.

Salary & Benefits

The selected candidates will be placed in the following pay scale as per the 7th Central Pay Commission (CPC):

• Pay Level: Level 7 in the Pay Matrix
• Pay Scale: Rs. 44,900 – Rs. 1,42,400 per month
• In addition to the basic pay, the selected candidates will be entitled to allowances such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance (TA), and other admissible allowances as per Central Government rules.
• Deputation allowance will also be admissible as per the existing rules and orders of the Government of India.
• Other service benefits including medical facilities, leave entitlements, and pension benefits as applicable to Central Government employees will be provided.
